EoB Mock Cover by besnglist EoB Mock Cover by besnglist
We've been playing with the ideas for cover for The Empire of Blood, and it's much much harder then I thought, to choose what should be there, representing the whole issue. And it shouldn't be all black behind, I just cannot manage colors at all and just leave it to other people. What do you think? What kind of story would you expect inside this cover?

Terrifically successful articulation of light here.

Thanks Norman, I greatly appreciate your support and interest, and hopefully I'll get to see more of your gallery when I grab more time, but for now I can say your way of drawing makes a strong impression on me and it surely is a great pleasant discovery here on dA.

Awesome work, again I love your take on fantasy, that lizardy guy in the background is looking mighty creepy and cool. I think I would expect a dark fantasy with lots of intrigue, shady two-faced characters, anti-heroes, assassination. Deep story and gorgeous art also springs to mind. Looking forward to seeing more of this!

Wonderful things to hear from you, indeed! Makes me really motivated to go on. I thank you very much and hope I'll be able to show more stuff relatively soon, so we can see does it fit the great expectations. Thank you!

. . . the black is really definitive :hmm: With your strong images, it'd be a real challenge to add adequate color . . . some of the bottom and topped cropped, it's freaking perfect :wow:

Thanks, you know you're so right about colors, at least I got no skills to do it right, in my case, colors are as strong as lines, so it becomes a fair :B

Wonderful work, as always.

I don't know... I can never think of stories that make sense. @_@

Since you mentioned that it shouldnĄt be all black behind... did you add the black background digitally? I think it works very nicely as it is, especially if you want to give a horror atmosphere, it's totally achieved! ;) I don't know if this is a good idea, Jelena, but if the black BG was added digitally, then this could be tried in a minute in photoshop: to replace it for a flat-color background, and leave the figures in B&W, so that they keep sticking out, and keeping the black bars at the top and bottom (where you could place the title and credits in the same color as the BG). B&W with another color seems to be always very eye-popping for a cover, I think!
